About Jens Bangsbo
Dr Jens Bangsbo is Danish soccer physiologist, and Professor in the Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports at the the University of Copenhagen (since 2003). He was born 2nd October, 1957 in Århus, Denmark. He has authored many scientific publications, and is well know for his role in developing the Yo-Yo fitness tests back in the 90s, which is now one of the most popular fitness tests for team sports.
Bangsbo is also one of the world's foremost experts in soccer training. In the field of soccer, he is an accomplished coach, instructor, author and player. As a player, he played more than 350 matches in the Danish Premier League and in the Danish National Team. He was the former assistant coach of Serie A (Italian League) giants Juventus (2001-2004) and the Denmark national football team, where he helped contribute to the technical, tactical and fitness training for the teams. He has also consulted for AEK Athens (2007/2008 season), where he supervised tactical aspects and individual development for the highly successful club.
