Cricket Yo-Yo Test Results

The yo-yo test is becoming a popular assessment of cricket players, and even some teams are using the test as a selection standard. It is mandatory to pass the yo-yo test to play in the national team for India and also for many of the IPL teams. The yo-yo test is also part of the fitness testing protocols for many other national cricket teams, but not necessarily part of the selection process.

The yo-yo test was first introduced into the Indian Cricket Team by the strength and conditioning Coach Shankar Basu in 2017, and it is now a requirement of national players to reach a certain level before they can be selected.

The benchmark that Indian cricketers need to achieve is 16.1 (and there is talk of increasing it to 17 soon). Some online sources list higher standards for other cricket teams: 19 for England and New Zealand and 17.4 for West Indies, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The results below are collated from various sources online, and the accuracy of the test results cannot be confirmed. It is usually not noted whether the yo-yo intermittent recovery test level 1 or 2 is used, so this list unfortunately may be a mixture of both.
